Tourists’ favourite means of transport restarts in Budapest
On Saturday, 1 April, one of the Hungarian capital’s favourite means of transport, the cogwheel, will be back in action.
According to a BKK statement, the weekly timetable will not change. Early in the morning and late at night, the TELE-brake system introduced last year will be maintained. This means that during this period, it will only depart if a request is received earlier.
On weekends, trains run every 15 minutes. However, in case of heavy traffic, BKK may increase the frequency of its services.
In the summer, the open train is expected to run several times between VĂ¡rosmajor and SzĂ©chenyi Hill.
“According to BKK’s earlier promise, the rack railway should have been running already after the autumn renovation, but the transport company suspended the services during the winter months, causing great problems for the people of the mountain area, especially the elderly, who regularly use the rack”, reads the statement of the Municipality of Budapest XII. district.
According to telex.hu, the cogwheel’s operation has been suspended due to rising fuel and electricity costs. This is estimated to have saved Budapest more than HUF 120 million.

Wonderful News.
Fascinated me, in Lyon, France 2022, they have (4) four metro lines.
The newest of there metro lines – which “ascends” in its journey, at the commencement of your journey, from central Lyon, the unit, by means of “direct” electricity in-put likened to a “third” rail concept – drives the unit.
When Line 4, starts to ascend, at a particular metro station – the driver – changes from electric motor to a “COG” Railway.
The return journey “Cog” to commence, then on “flatter” ground – switch over to the Electric “direct” system.
Into the FUTURE – extension of Budapest, Hungary – Metro system in Buda, up into those Hills, could be to the way the French in Lyon, have made there “newest” metro line function.
